CULTURE & MÉMOIRE Maisons alsaciennes à Niedermorschwihr
A charming village with a rich architectural heritage, a remarkable vineyard and a world-famous jam maker! Another special feature: its twisted bell tower is unique in Alsace and remains full of mystery... the main street, in which you'll find many beautiful half-timbered and oriel-tiled houses that add to the village's charm. Have you noticed the little hearts in the shutters? In the past, in Alsace, the heart was a symbol to ward off bad omens and evil spirits. It's also said that when an Alsatian family had a daughter to marry off, they let it be known by cutting a heart into the shutters. A lovely stop-off on the wine route.
