CULTURE & MÉMOIRE Eglise de Bennwihr
The parish church you can see on your right is the final stage in the reconstruction of the village, completed in 1959. Attached to its northern wall, you can make out two fragments of calvaries, witnesses to the sacred heritage built in the 18th and 19th centuries before 20th-century man, in his desire for power, destroyed it all. Designed by architects Pouradier-Duteil, it was financed by the Bennwihriens and war damage compensation. Its modernity in no way detracts from its interest: colorful, modern stained-glass windows by the Martineau glass artist bring light into the nave, enhancing the building's beauty.
